So practiced a bunch tonight made a bunch of little tweaks to the car and I got the car very balanced. The better part is that the handling does not change very much over a 30 min run. Tires ware was a little more than 1/3 after a 30 min race on both front and rear. The best part was I ran my fastest lap in the third to last lap.
Getting the balance this good has me wondering if I could run on softs. Hummmm

You could try softs, but the track temps are above the range for softs. Pretty sure they would get too hot and get greasy.

GT1 Round 2 Sakitto
I had some clever commentary, but had my twitch settings wrong, so it was not recorded. I just spent 30 minutes talking to myself. I also did a bad job of capturing the chaos at the start where I went from P1 to P14 in T1. Not planning on redoing it, so you'll just have to imagine all the witty and entertaining things I said.
Too bad I still can't get the embed feature to work.
Points are finally posted. Replays... well that's another thing altogether.

I watched the replay of the start. Lots of action between the green flag and turn 1. I'll make a replay video tomorrow.
The other part that was fun to watch is when Dean was trying to oitbrake an AI into turn 5(?)(right hander with downhill braking zone) and got him on the inside, then veered to the left, hit the AI and spun. AI Miles Behind comes around the corner and sees Dean facing the wrong way. Instead of swerving the AI brakes. Hard. Brad is right behind Miles and plows into them. About the time all three cars are back on the ground, Sauce comes around and sideswipes the mess resulting in even more chaos. I think this was lap 2 or 3.

I don't have the Fuji replay. Didn't want to relive the pain, do I deleted it soon after the race.
Sakitto posted above.

I have the Fuji replay still. I’ll try and find some time and upload it.
I have the replay but have no clue how to post it. That bit of fun in turn 5 was on the first lap. If I came over it is on me then. From my car it sure felt like I was holding it to the right. I also had a weird one with Air. He said he hit me and I did not feel/hear a thing. Wondering if there may be a bit of weirdness with the game.

You are right it was lap 1. As it turns out two humans managed to make the first couple corners with no contact. Brad threaded through to chaos unscathed and myself because I had a good launch and got clear of it.
I'll post the link to the replay shortly.

Sonoma Start Chaos
Round 3 Sonoma Full replay
Enjoy.
Dean, if you remember about which lap you and Air had contact, let me know and I can see if I can find it.
Brad, look at 21:45 or so in the full replay for the airborne Skyline incident.
Wow, that was a crazy start. I really had no idea I was hit twice during it (probably the same way Dean did not feel my contact).
Me and Dean's contact was probably 3 or so from the end, at the top of the hill in the 2nd corner.
Thanks for posting TJ, I knew the start was crazy from my perspective but had no idea quite how manic that all was. I had forgotten about the red mist when I got going again and ramming my way through the Group A cars trying to catch up, I'm sure that was a contributing factor for my safety rating taking a 20 point hit that race.
As for the second incident, I couldn't see Dean at all or when Miles started braking. I got lucky that I had a bit of a run out of the previous corner and was already moving to the inside to pass Brad or else I would have added some more onto that pile.

Here it is. I missed a 3 lap battle between the two of you that ended at this point when I did the replay. You did not make contact, but it was close. This looks to be the CPA.

Here is the view from my car. I call this Operation Skyhigh Skyline. I had a good run on the two of you and thought I was going to be able to pass both of you on the inside and get clear of you before the next turn to the right. That's how it worked out in the end, but just with an extra bit of pucker factor for me. I briefly thought my race was going down the drain since Sauce was only maybe 7 seconds behind me at that point.

The other thing I learned from watching the replay again, is I figured out why I never saw Argo until he showed up parked in the pits.
I passed him once while he was off the road a bit, but I can see why I didn't notice him since I was focused on the next turn. He appears briefly. then disappears behind my fender.
Then later on I spotted some yellow bodywork at the double apex right hander at the end of the dragstrip, but there was no sign of Argo. When I got around to the end of the lap I saw him in the pits. Turns out he was sitting on the inside of first turn. There was a pretty good glare at that point and I suppose I was looking at the apex of the turn and the bright yellow bodywork to the left and just didn't see the Ferrari on my right.
As for my recap, I was really looking forward to this race. Unlike last week the car felt really good and I like the track. From practice and qualifying I knew that TJ and I were very close in lap times and expected to have a tight race.
That all went tits up at the start, apparently I really need to work on those. After the lap 1 debacle I was about 8 seconds back, and by the time I cleared the couple cars in front to get to second TJ was 10 seconds clear. I then settled in trying to run basically as fast as possible while conserving tires here and there if I could. I started chipping away at the lead a few tenths at a time and then as he started catching AI cars I picked up some more time.
With the lead down to 6 seconds and change I was reeling a Cosworth in approaching the double right hander before sector 3. Having been taken out by AI just after the corner in practice I tried to slide inside before the 2nd apex but had contact and spun. And just like that the lead was back to 14 seconds.
Second verse, same as the first. Given the rate at which I had been catching TJ I suspected that he was having tire issues, either with wear or temps. If that was the case it might be possible to catch up or at least apply some pressure. He also could have just been in extreme conservation/safe passing mode at which point my efforts wouldn't matter, but I set out again with only minimal consideration for tire wear.
I started gaining large chunks of time, and with 2 laps left had the lead under 8 seconds. That is still a huge gap, but the previous couple laps had been closing at 3 seconds a lap so I thought I still had a very slim chance. Now, it turns out that the reason for that gain was a huge gaggle of AI cars that TJ wisely took his time getting through, but I had no such luxury and went full send. I actually made it past the first 3 or 4 quite well and set my PB first sector, but got side swiped heading towards the downhill sweeper and that was the end.
Also, I'm out for next Wednesday, traveling for the holidays.
Next Wednesday is an off week, so you won’t miss anything but maybe some practice.

I wasn't worried about tire wear. I was trying to be careful and strategic and just knock out consistent safe laps. You did get close enough a few times to make me start thinking about pushing a bit though.
dang I had no idea that start was that nuts and from that replay that second incident was all me. I don't remember driving in to the ai like that. I would like to say because I was on the curb I over corrected and did that but in the end it was definitely on me for hitting the Ai.
Yes, that was the moment the steering quit and I drove straight into the barrier. Then retired. The wheel had been acting up the whole race failing to upshift or downshift randomly. Then it just quit. I think it was the DriveHub not the wheel as it wasn't showing the figure 8 display that it usually does. May be time for a new wheel that is directly compatible....Santa.....

I suspect Road America will not let me use my maxed out high downforce setup that worked at Sakitto and Sonoma. The Toyota will be a beast with all the high speed sections. I'm glad there is an extra week to work on this one.

Yeah, looking at the screenshot above, I can see why I didn't see you over there. You blend in with the tire wall from that view. G29 wheels are not too much. Hopefully Santa takes care of you.
