What car did you fantasise about owning when you were 16?

Ahh, I missed the NEW car part. The 1980 Z-28 was my favourite but I did still end up with the catE36 M3 brown 1980 Toyota pickup.

Ferrari Daytona that had just finished first in the Cannoball Run with Brock Yates and Dan Gurney driving. They cost a lot then- $25,000!

All I had on my mind a 16 was a 77 Trans am. In my mind new cars (1995) were junk and not real cars. I still don't really like many cars newer than 1980. So what I wanted at 16 wasn't a new car it was this

One of these rolled around my town all the time, and got traded into the Hyundai (yeah, I have no clue either) dealer my sister worked at back in 1998. I wanted it sooooooo bad. I remember that they wanted $18k for it. That color combination with the special interior, I think it was houndsooth cloth, were just phenomenal looking. One of the coolest looking Camaros ever made if you ask me.

I still want a 4th Gen F-Body.

So what happened to you to perk your interest in cars and how old were you when this occurred? The evidence is that you're as hooked on them as anyone on the forum present tenses.

The original concept was "what reasonably priced car did you really want".

Many of the posts haven't been what most of us would call "reasonably priced", but I lusted after those too and I've enjoyed seeing what stirred other's emotions when they were young.

It's funny how some cars affect us. I'll never forget when this car was new and it appeared in color on the pages of an issue or R&T. I thought it was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen.

I have a bit more of a love/hate relationship with cars than most people here i would think. I'm tortured by it and am pretty much always on the verge of throwing everything away and buying a Camry.

Not sure when i started caring about cars. Just kindof happened.

In 1976... you could get a 427 Cobra for under $5000... at least Tony Hogg found a used one for about that....

When I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade ('91-'92 or so) my neighbor had 2 newish cars; a red 5.0 Mustang foxbody hatch and a red FC RX7. I will have one some day.

When I was 16 (around 2000) I had a total hard on for a 70 Chevelle or an air cooled 911. I wasn't into racing or cars really, I played guitar for hours, played computer games and went to concerts while doijgthe bare minimum at school. Sad, back then those cars could still be had without the hot new trend/BarrettJackson tax.
