You can try to reflow it with a hair dryer. But, even if that works I would suggest you mainly do that to retrieve your save files.

or replace your hard drive, so you can just slap it into a new system.
E: Actually, the Ylod doesn't affect the HD, right? So why not just look into buying a new system or used sans hd and replace it with the old one?
Have to reformat the drive, when putting it into new ps3. And I did do the hair dryer trick. Don't know how soon I will replace it. Depends on what kind if deal I can find.

Ah, that sucks. I didn't know you had to do it with a ps3 drive, but a quick google seems to agree with you.
