I am looking at one of these and wondering if there was anyone with personal experience with them here. It looks mint and has about 40k miles.

I'm not much help as I have a 2007 Tiger 1050 which is a very different beast. When I was doing research on my gen Tiger I had pretty good luck searching tiger forums and triumph forums.
If you haven't found it already, the Triumph RAT web forum head a lot of information a couple years back when I was researching my Bonneville (there are sections for all the models). It was another rare instance of a forum having great info. It lead me to modding my airbox and re-flashing my own computer with a new fuel map after I opened up the intake and exhaust.
I have a 955 Daytona and had a 1050 Tiger, but never a 955 Tiger. The Tiger was great and let it go with just under 40k and no issues what so ever. I still miss the heated grips.
The 955 (Daytona T595) is an early one. No issues with it either, but it also only has about 27k miles. The sound of it is spectacular (Black Widow under tail pipe).
I would not be scared of the Tiger 955 with 40k if it was taken care of at least minimally.
I owned a Sprint ST with the same motor for a while. The main issue I ran into was what I considered excessive oil consumption (although that doesn't seem to be typical with them) and the famed fuel injection disconnects pissing fuel all over the bike. Oh, and it leaking fuel into the chamber at the back of the tank that houses the fuel level sender. You can get aluminum disconnects that don't have this problem (the OEM ones get brittle over time due to exposure to fuel...).
There's a low mileage Tiger for sale locally that I'm kinda interested in, so the above didn't put me off, it's just stuff to be aware of.
Had a Daytona 955i. I wouldn't be put off by a tiger at all other than at 5'10" I need it lowered. Brass fuel disconnects are available at about any local hydraulic shop for about $6.00 or triumph dealers sell kits for around $100. The sound of a big triumph triple is one of my all time favorite engine noises.
Well, I think that I am going to get it if I can unload my Husky dirt bike tonight. SWMBO is going to have a bit of a fit but the want is strong and the Husky will more than cover the Tiger.
I didn't mention that it is $3k and the second owner who has had it for 10 years. This is probably as good as they get. Also, wire wheels and stock panniers.
Sounds like a nice deal! I picked up my Tiger from the second owner with only 18.5k miles on it. He decided he liked the Sprint ST more.
Have you played with the Triumph triple before? If not, you're in for a treat
My BIL has a 1050 speed triple. Such a nice power plant. Lots of character without the typical reliability issues associated with high character bikes.
The wife is on board. Baring any major issues with it, I am bringing it home Saturday.

Looks great! My best friend picked up a 1050 speed triple almost 2 years ago and after traveling less than half a mile and 2 turns I was in love. I couldn't find a reasonable speed triple and wanted something a little more practical so I went with the Tiger. Very happy with it. And I personally like the looks of the Tiger more than the speedy.
First longer ride (2 hours) and I am very impressed. It handles back roads with easy, gravel is no problem, and it is comfortable too. It is basically what I suspect and FJ09 to be like but for 30% the cost.
Road to work today. Fairly windy. The bike held its own pretty well. There is ALWAYS more grunt when I need it. A slight throttle roll at 75 mph puts me into the high 80s before I know it. The only thing I am considering is a taller windshield or fab up one of those little add-on things at the top.
Those sound fantastic. It looks good without the pans on it too - no ugly rack hanging down the sides of the bike like my GS.
Good luck with it!
Yeah, the bags are pretty slick. Easy on and off. One has some stress cracks though so I need to find a remedy for that.
