1980 14,000 miles bought it off ebay 2 nights ago. Need to go to nearly to NYC to pick it up... The owner is anal about the bike - older guy who is a riding instructor (has a miata too) just by the information he gave me about the bike (and 80 pages of roadtests via pdf) I can tell it's been well cared for.

So Excited!

Great looking bike. That's a really good size for saveing some fuel cost and having enough grunt to stay with traffic on higher speed roads.

I have a well used 53,000 km 1986 GS400. Mechanically it is as reliable as a trusted dog. Just watch the electrical system.

That looks like a very clean bike, and should serve you well! Kinda makes me wish I would have taken mine to work today instead of the Miata (too many vehicle choices is a terrible thing to have ).

And it's an S-model to boot!

Congrats as they were highly regarded. The 400/450 engines and chassis were produced for years, so parts availability shouldn't be an issue.

Great score.

COOLASS BIKE !!

My son had one, installed clubman bars and a Cafe seat, very cool. The thing out ran my brother's 80 cube Harley.

Very nice bike. Is it the same model pictured? My first bike was an 82 GS 450 L, the cruiser model. Not as cool looking as the one pictured, but those GS bikes have quite a bit of pep to them. The 450 was the largest twin in the lineup if I remember right, and it's a blast. Once I had the carbs tuned properly it ran very well - smooth and quick, a perfect city bike. It would certainly keep up with 75 mph traffic if asked to, although it was a little buzzy at those speeds.

Excellent find.

IT is the one in the picture! I thought it was a stock photo - but it actually is the one in the picture! The guy sounds like a real enthuasists - always maes you feel good when you buy something from someone who cares.

I am going to pick it up near NYC on the 27th

Great looking bike, but I'm partial to the mid-size bikes of the 70s-80s anyways. Enjoy!

Life isn't complete until you update the garage contents in your profile.

Nice find and nice photo! I've got its descendant, the GS500F, very similar motor although the frame's not related at all. Great commuter bike and pretty fun on twisty roads, too.

Got it! Drove down to Queens NY and picked it up thursday. Rented the truck from Alamo in syracuse - $130 for the day with unlimited mileage. Wasn't too bad on gas managed 18mpg. Going to unload it tonight and give it a ride! Bike is in better condition than the pics show!
