Ok all the haters and sceptics were right about that I shouldn't have rebuelled my blast but I did it as a lernin expererience.

For those who don't remember/care my 2000 blast with 30000 miles on it decided to munch a tranmission after a engine rebore top end job. A year later here I am putting everything back together.

My problem is the buell blast manual wasn't written very well and doesn't specify which timing marks should match. I did find a picture in the manual and put the cams in as such. It would be nice to know if I did it right before installing the cam cover and the rest of the engine.

Here is a pic as installed, are the arrow and lines the time marks?

Brought the manual over to the mechanic and he looked the book over and said that those should be the time marks. He was also confused and how little information is in the manual. The bike should go back together today, wish me luck.

They sure look right, in so that there are other marks, but they don't match up to anything.

Glad to here you will be blasting around soon Have you been on the Blast yahoo group? They have a group of files that has all of the service groups in PDF format. I have found them to be useful.

Well I guess some of the rocker bolts are torque to yield as one torqued to yield on me. Then Me, Mr. Brilliant decided to put said bolt back into head where it was nice enough to break. Luckily it cam out easy enough. New bolts are on there way.

Thanks for the help and encouragement. I feel like I've about rebuelled this whole bike.

Oh and in the year since I haven't been able to ride the punky, I got fat and now I'm not tough enough to fit in my tough leather jacket.

OK it runs but I think the battery finally might have crapped out, boo! I'll see if I can give the bike a good long charge at 10amps on the battery charger either I'll kill it or cure it.

Any trickes to reviving gel cell battery. I measured it after sitting for a year and it read 12V but when I go to start the bike it just clicked. So I charged it for 20min at 10 amps and the bike started right up ran for a minute then died with a dead battery and won't restart.

Thanks for all the help folks!

Try trickle-charging the battery for a couple of days, see if that helps. The battery in my ZRX was showing similar symptoms tho' and it turned out to be time to replace it.

On the charger as we speak, motorcycle batteries aren't cheap either, around 100$ for the size of a brick.

Thanks Tim, I'll let y'all know how it goes!

I got the battery charged up and the bike running but it wasn't shifting right, pulled the primary/clutch assembly and found that me, Mr. Stupid, didn't install one of the shift pawl mechanism springs correctly and the bike wouldn't shift correctly. So time to button it up and hopefully the primary gasket still has a bit of life left, it has only been installed now twice, third times is the charm.

Wish me luck and thanks for all the help!
