i have a buell blast. Unfortunately I also got laid off and took a job across town since I got the buell. The path is treacherous and I have had no desire to ride a bike on it.

Not riding it to work it inevitably needed a new battery, which led to bad gas, which led to flat tires. Fast forward and the bike has now sat idle for two years and needs some effort and cash to become rideable.

The question is, is it better to fix it and try to sell it, or cut my losses and sell it as a project? I bought it for a little over a grand. What is a fair price for a bike that needs refreshing?

Where are you?  I love my BeLast.  The bikes are very reliable once sorted, mine has 44k miles on it.  Did a lot of work on it in that time.  Check rear wheel bearings, they like to go bad and kill the rear rim while it it

If the bike is only worth a grand running, fixing it to sell seems like a waste of time. How much would it cost to get it rideable? I bet you could get $500 for it broken. At the very least it doesn't cost money to try.

I'd love a cheap blast, but Atlanta is too far.

I've seen those with knobbies for a fun dirt toy

If you're in Atlanta, I'm 2.5 to 3 hrs away in Montgomery.  If you want to get rid of it pre or post fix up im looking for a bike i can get cheap.  I also like the "Enduroblast" idea so if you'd like to call or text 334 me 202 here's my 6275 cell.

PS, if you need car and like turbo Volvos......

Do you have any inclination towards building something custom?  The Blast has a kind of neat backbone frame which could lend itself well to modification.

If that's directed at me, absolutely.   I have loved Cafe racers since before the skinny jeans/man bun crowd go into it and I'm currently interested in a modernish take on the best bike I've owned, a 72 Cl350 Scrambler but with a brat/flat track nod as well.  My son has a little dirt bike so being able to ride trails OR run to the store for a gallon of milk is my goal

I think I'm going to just get it running and re evaluate. Shouldn't cost more that a hundred for that. It's late season anyway and would likely get more return on spring. Or if I get more time free next year maybe I will get tires too. That knobby tire pick may just turn me....
