So, finally got the carbs worked out and back on the bike Sunday and did a fresh oil change. Wife suggested I take my daughter for a ride as she was taking the boys to the store. It was a short ride, but no clutch problems at all

Today, Bike felt a little "off" as I pushed it out of the garage and I felt a little clutch slipping, but decided to ride anyway.

Well, 15 miles later and some time of the clutch not engaging a low rpm, It has completely stopped grabbing.

I'm "fairly" certain I used the normal oil (Rotella T) that I've used for years. But, in the off change, could normal car oil with friction reducers cause this behavior? Or should I jump online while I'm at work and buy new clutch discs?

Bike is at 42,000 miles.

I would open up the side case and check it out first. Also, you didn't mention if its a cable or hydraulic clutch. I've seen a clutch cable start fraying internally and cause a clutch to slip because it not fully releasing.

Silver lining. Your clutch may be gone, but you now have a nice new bird's nest.

Easy enough to remove the side cover and the clutch for inspection. Do that before you go buying parts, so you get parts you actually need.

Though since you say the bike felt off as you pushed it out of the garage, I rather suspect you might want to look of the front sprocket too. In particular, the spines.

You didn't say what kind of bike, but a clutch is a wear item and if you got 42k miles out of the original, then that seems pretty good.

I put my bike away last fall, the thing ran great, so noticeable clutch slipping and I probably even pulled a few wheelies. looking back, I do remember it getting harder to find neutral.

This spring, first nice day, go to ride and it started to slip right away. After maybe a mile it is almost unrideable and I have to turn around.

That is a Ducati dry clutch. Easy to change, but a PITA anyway.

It's a 2001 GSF600s, wet clutch.

Sprockets have maybe 3500 miles..I adjusted the cable a few minutes ago and it seemed to work....just odd that it "tightened" during a ride.

Wet clutches will fail if you switch from conventional to synthetic I don't know If you might have done this or even semi synthetic
