My meds have given me some unhelpful dreams too. Twice while trying to go to sleep I dreamt that I was falling backwards out of recliner chair that I've been sleeping in. Resulting in a semiconscious tensing of the whole body to brace for the fall that isn't coming. Even under the influence of the meds it takes a good 10 minuets for sharp pain that single moment caused in my hip socket to subside.

I also keep replaying the fall back in my head somewhat involuntary, but the "film" starts from the point of no return, I still don't feel like I have closure on what I actually did wrong to set off the crash.

Pretty much the same here. It was wet, things going good, 6th plsve overall, riding at a comfortable pace, and bam,on the ground, pavement flashing past my face a couple times before stopping.

Any way, they docked me one lap as the cause of the red flag, still 6th overall, and first in my class. Suck's to pay for it with a clavicle.

At walgreens picking up med and keep you pooping mix.

It not going to be a fun couple weeks.

Best of luck in your recovery.

The torture has begun. I can only stay in the front half of our small home, a combined living room, dinning and kitchen area.

Today my wife got talked into babysitting her nephews daughter, and our foster daughter's weekend parent was a no show.

Now I'm trapped with endless Kidz bop on the TV, complete with loud sing and dance along.

I seem to be onto something, well as on something. The stuff they gave me makes it incredibly hard to keep my eyes open.

Anyway, it seems that when I have the TV on that I don't have motorcycle crashing dreams as I'm nodding off. Still investigating. I do know that I set the timer on the TV last night. And I woke up a couple minutes after the TV off turned off with a crashing dream. Right now I have on the last hour and 15 minutes or so of the 24 hours of LeMans let's see if this causes more or less crashing dreams due to the sound of the cars accelerating and decelerating.

Just got the bill from the bill from the ER. They didn't take my insurance information, now I know why they tried to kick me out so quick.

LOL Love me some Insurance/Hospital hi-jinx. Have the Hospital billing resubmit it to insurance and follow up in writing. If there is a remaining balance call and ask for a discount. They will typically give a 10-15% discount if you simply ask.

Insurance. One of the necessary evils except for when they actually pay some bills.

Just got back from the orthopedic surgeon. I got a better look at the x-rays and it is as bad as I remember them from Friday night when I saw them in the emergency room. The doctor also thought they looked quite nice. He said this one was more of a candidate for surgery than the right one that he did 10 years ago. I hope to be going under the knife for the repair on Thursday I should know tomorrow wether Thursday is on or not. He said the other side was a cleaner break which was what allowed him to use a single screw down the middle of the bone to attach everything back together. This side the left is going to get the good old fashion plate and multiple screws. 10 years ago the total bill for all this work was like $35,000 Insurance paid most of it not looking forward to seeing what the total is this time and what insurance won't pay.

My motorcycle racing may be over for this year. The friend who drove my van and Equipment home told me I need to finish my ej22 swap into my Kelmark kit car and do some hill climbs. So as soon as I have use of both arms again I need to get back to some serious wrenching.

Joy of joys, I'm back in the ER, thanks to a possible abscess in my thigh. Today it's become alarmingly swollen and tender.

It's been almost two weeks in on this. Things are improving, but it took a complication for that to happen.

Earlier this week I had to go back to the ER. The bruise on my thigh that I mentioned became unusually painful, more than my hip pain for a while. My wife convinced herself that it was a blood clot (a huge problem in her family) and called 911. The EMTs weren't sure what to make of it, it was warm, bulging, ugly and sensitive. They thought it might be an abscess, so they strapped me into stair chair and took me to a local hospital. The Dr at the ER suspected a torn quad muscle, which made sense considering the location and nature of the accident. Two rough trips through the CT scan machine later they diagnosed a whopper of a hematoma. The pain is just the effect of it working itself out naturally. It's big and deep.

The part that is most helpful though is that the local hospital got a case worker involved, and recognised that I need to have in home care and professional medical transportation to get in and out of my house. They are dealing with the insurance company to make it all happen.

Hopefully I'll be able to get to the hip specialist Ortho Dr this coming week.

I'm feeling much less pain, and haven't taken any of the pain pills in days. I'm still far from mobile, but I can get from chair to walker without drama now, and my walker speed has gone up from mega slow to extra slow. The PT guy is going to be coming next week to help me with getting around on crutches.

I'm still surprised that I'm not insane yet. This is the longest I've been immobile in my entire life. Normally I'm constantly moving if I'm not asleep. A few years ago I caught a nasty flu, the Dr said I should have gone to the ER due to dehydration, and I needed to take a week to recover. By day three I had cleaned out my basement and reorganized the inside of my work truck, I went back to work on day four. Maybe it'll be day 104 this time.

Sorry to hear about the set back, glad it led to some improvement.

I myself went under the knife Thursday, painful couple days, some real rest last night and today helped with the pain management.

I think you'll be back in action before me, despite having surgery. Be glad you're getting good rest too.

Since I stopped taking the pain meds my sleep has been kind of spotty. I'm not in real pain at this point, and I'm not going to use them just to sleep, that sounds like the first step on the road to addition to me.

Hopefully I'll be able to get back into my bed in another week or so. I think first thing tomorrow morning I'm going to walker myself into the bathroom and try to shave, this grizzly Adams style just isn't for me.

I'm glad we've been here for some members' final days, in the sense that I hope they felt they were part of a community who cared right up to the end, but I hate that we can't respond to those last posts and count on them reading them. RIP, Andy. Hope your heaven has a GRM meet-up.

I don't know how I missed this thread.  I hadn't been following Sprockets much, I suppose.  From reading Andy's posts here, I am going to theorize that he had an embolism or pneumonia.  Hip fractures are extremely dangerous.  Not from the hip fracture, but from the pneumonia or the embolism.  It would not surprise me at all if that hematoma was related.

RIP, Andy.
