I contacted NYS DMV and they said pretty much "Contact the previous owner".

PO unknown, history non-tracable. Perhaps I can have a cop chase the VIN, but how would you go about a Title?

Thanks.

You ignore it and find a bike with a title?

It's a CX500, you could probably find one for the same price with a title.

For a much more desirable bike it may be worthwhile to find a way to get a new title.

Down here it cost me $135 to get a title, I could have done it myself for about 1/3 of that, but I didn't have the extra time and the bike was unusual enough that it was worth it. CX500's are not that uncommon. I'd wait for one with a title.

Or buy that one for like $275 as a parts bike for something like this:

Like ditchdigger said. I used this place for the Celica.

Unless you don't plan on driving on the street, don't buy without the title. I only have one without. I figured it would be fine because its a track car.

If you do plan on getting it, have the bill of sale written up, fold it up, and have it elaminated (SP?) ASAP. Then you have the sellers finger prints if the vehicle is hot.
