I'm looking to add some luggage to my little EX-500 for day - to - day commuting. has anyone built their own hardbags?
I've seen a few ammo can style, seem way big or way small
I want the security of hard case - lockable
Don't need to be removable.

Pelican cases, if you can find them cheap enough. My buddy bought a closeout lot on Fleabay and sold the rest after he buil some cool ones for his dual sport

Just out of curiosity, where have you seen too-big ammo cases? I've been thinking of putting some on my TL, but I can't find any bigger then 50 cal boxes, which don't hold much in the way of daily crap.

Mount to back of seat, drill through the foam and bolt it through the plastic. This is easier if you have a separate front and rear seat as you can switch it out when you don't want the luggage but you could also get a spare seat for the 500 and mount it to that.

Hmmm, I'd say a perfect hard bag size would be M19 hepd cans, they are about 20ish inches long by maybe 12 deep and 8 wide plus you could easily make them lockable. plus they have a nice black foam liner already installed for delicate items.

Awesome site there by the way.

First item on the page is the ammo can lock.
I might be able to get a few out to you when I get back home, cans, not the locks, there's TONS of different sizes and shapes.
Search E-bay for hard bags. I found a set for my Honda that were brand new, stored for 30 years!
