The TwinStar needs new tires. Problem is they are weird ass sizes. The front is a 3.00 x 17 running on a 1.6 x 17 rim. The back is a 3.50 x 16 running on a 1.85 x 16 rim.

The front has 3/4 of an inch of fork tube clearance on either side, the back has at least 1/2 inch clearance of the swing are on either side.

The best I could come up with is Pirelli's MT75, 90/80-17 front and 100/80-16 rears.

I'd like to run as big a tire as I can. The fenders, most likely, are getting pulled off this winter.

Those are close to moped sizes. This place: treatland.tv is probably the biggest retailer of those tires and lots of them are speed rated to 80+ mph for some reason.

16 inch choices https://www.treatland.tv/SearchResults.asp?Search=tire+16

17 inch choices https://www.treatland.tv/SearchResults.asp?Search=tire+17

that 16 rear is weird though.

I'm also trying to keep them from same company and model, if possible. I know, I know, painting myself into a corner.

Well if you were looking for a dual sport type tread i'd say Bridgestone Trail wings. I've road raced on a set they did stick very well but i was on stock xr100 on .6 of a mile track with 12 turns. I was impressed with the grip for the price.

Unfortunately, I ride nothing but tarmac.

Not much help... but i run mt75s on my small ninja and they grip till you drag hard parts. So good tire.... now what is a twin star?

I use MT75 on my blast an I like them, don't last long but better than dunlops. Don't know much about any other types of tires.

You'll like the trail wings but they have strange look of large knobs sorta hockey goaly stick shaped. Some complain of short like but there on bigger heavyer bike.

Ended up with Pirelli MT75s, 90/80-17 front and 100/80-16 back. Shorter, but wider than stock. Can't with till spring to mount them and try them out.
