Folks,

A buddy of mine is looking to sell his 1982 Honda CB750K. He has restored it over the years and it only has 9,400 original miles on it. He's 35 SW of Cleveland, so it spends most of its life in storage. He'd like $2650 for it and is unsure how to go about selling it. All of my knowledge involves 4 wheels, so I thought I'd ask this group. What good sites, forums, etc should he use to list it?

Since he's in Ohio, tell him to try the AMA Vintage Bikes Day at Mid-Ohio. It's July 9-11. I had a '89 Honda CB-1 that I loaded up and took there. A guy followed me in and as soon as I parked, he jumped all over it. It's amazing what all you see there. Bike nut's everywhere. It cost $25 to get in and he would need to get there early. Or try Craigslist. It's free and easy. I'm sure there are classic jap forums out there too.

I think that his price is on the high side. I just saw 2 other CB750’s on craigslist – one fro $1000 and one for $600. Both were the more sought after SOHC late 60’s early 70’s bikes. Granted, they are probably not in the same shape as your friends, but they are vintage bikes and the majority of people into them are the type that want to fix them up, customize them or ride a restored example of a special bike. The CB750K0 or K2 were bikes that represented an era. The 1982 bike is just an old bike. And on top of that, it is too nice and too expensive to convert into a café or custom bike.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll pass this along to him.

Walnecks.com or Cycletrader is a good place to post. Both sites are basically the same. One caters to earlier bikes obviously and the other to later models.

http://www.cb1100f.net/ is also a great place to post it seeing as how it caters specifically to that generation CB.

That bike is gorgeous by the way! Good luck with the sale.
