Anyone used them? What brand, what bikes, what kind of experience was it?

I keep looking at Harbor Freight on, with the ramp. I wouldn't feel too sketchy, as the Murdercycle weighs under 300 lbs.
When I was a teenager, we had a homemade hitch carrier for the family Suburban. It worked well but obscured the tail lights. We covered the back ground of ours with reflective tape. Adding a brake light might be a good idea.
There are several good brands out there. Most of the good ones will have a wedge design that pulls on the cross pin and wedges in to the Square part this keeps them tight for less wobble. Seeing as you have a hitch you sould have trailer light plug grab a $20 set of magnetic light from horabil freight and stick to the underside. The HF units do not get good reviews on the bike forums yet. I'm sure they will be forced to improve.
I have used the HF one for seversal years and it's been great. No telling how many miles I havehauling it now.

There's a number of interesting threads on them over on the advforum.com boards. Well worth reading peoples experiences and mishaps with various ones.
It will be difficult to find one that will carry the weight of a KLR. Most are for much lighter bikes.
Disagree. The ADVforum has numerous threads about the KLR on the HF carrier. In fact that's what HF has sitting on it in their pictures.
Now the wisdom of doing that, that's another matter. I personally don't like it. The wiggling, the rocking, the leverage, the width, the loading. It's not the choice for me. But, others use them quite successfully.
