So the rear fender plastics on my bike have seen better days. I am attempting to find a replacement, but they are quite rare. I would basically have to buy a parts bike in great shape in order to get the plastics I need to make it perfect.

In the mean time, I think it would be kinda neat to do a sticker collage on the rear fender. It is kinda hipster, but it can be custom tailored to the rider, and if you ever get sick of looking at it, just put more stickers on top to change it up.

What do you all say? Thumbs up or down? Why?

They're just fine...if you are eight years old.

Just get some of that reflective tape, cover fender, increase visibility.

Look at some of the panniers on bikes on advrider. just make sure they're relevant to your experiences

I do not think it is necessary to go to collage to learn about stickers.

Grap some vinyl that matches the color of the bike and apply. That easy. Will look fine from 2 feet away.

Since it's a funky old bike, I say do it, but I'm admittedly a graphics whore. They're removable and the piece is broken anyway, so it won't hurt to experiment.

I feel differently about excessive stickers on cars, for obvious reasons.

It's an 82 MB5. Matt has seen it. It IS a funky old bike.

If you have stickers, go for it. If you would have to buy stickers, get plain vinyl or high viz tape.

Isn't there a "billion" dollar industry making fender eliminator kits? Ditch it.

it carries my taillight. and it mounts to the tank, so if I eliminated it, you would see the back of the tank.

like I said, it IS a funky little bike.

similar to this, but with the decals actually adhered to something, and with decals that actually mean something to me, or are relevant to the bike.

bumper stickers, product decals, cool sayings, etc.

So, I got a start today. The rear fender was removed from my bike, and I gathered all the stickers I had. It is not complete. It probably never will be. But it is a start.

If anyone has some decals that they want to part with, or would like to donate, send them to me, I WILL put them on my bike.

Pics to come in a moment.

Before. There were some holes drilled in it, a few rather large cracks, and some severe scratches. Not pretty overall.

After. I kinda like it. It will probably be better when it is installed on the bike. Like I said, this is definitely not complete. I am going to continue adding stickers to it until it looks like my toolbox, or a guitar case.

It is just weird enough that I dig it.

That is my dog's crate that it is sitting on by the way. I don't keep a baby in there or anything.

Don't lie, that's where the gimp sleeps.

I dunno if I have any automotive stickers, but I have some zombie/beer-brand spoof stickers you can have (St. Zombi Girl, Samuel Deadmans, Monster Brau, etc.)

I'm digging it so far btw.

Just a comment from the bleachers.....by "personalizing" the MB fender, you've decreased the $$ value immensely. They are hard to find and command a pretty good buck. Any time spent fixing the fender properly would pay dividends down the road. Granted, you haven't done anything that can't be reversed, but maybe the stickers would be better on a travel trunk (plus more room)than stuck all over a hard to find model. Sort of like plastering STP decals all over a XKE. But hey, it's your bike and you can do what you like. In fact, as long as you like it, that's all that really counts. I'll mind my own business now!

In reply to minimac:

It was well beyond repair. It was torn to hell, and there were pieces missing from it. It would have taken HOURS to try to repair it, and even then it would have been easily identified as being painted plastic. I would have had to hodge podge it together, and it would not have looked very good.

This way, I will be happy with the fender until I can get a decent replacement. Plus, anything that makes people look at my bike while I am on the street is a good thing. Eye catching is important when you are the bug trying to evade the windshield.

Oh, and BTW, I don't plan on selling this bike, um, EVER! I EFFIN LOVE IT!

This is what girls think of a stock MB5, just imagine how they will drool over stickers!
