On New Years day I saw this on Lake Nepessing. It was moving at a high rate of speed and pulled up near the race track being plowed. I talked to the rider and he showed me how it was made of scrap parts and gym equipment. He introduced himself as Jay. I gave him a hand setting up his awnning and picnic. When I read the awning I realized that I was talking with Jay Springsteen.
Ice racing with a hack or was he spectating?
Ice hack racing is fun to watch!! Jay is a hell of a nice normal kinda guy.
He ran it hard on the oval. It was not a sanctioned race, more of a track day type event. There were many top ranked flat track and ice racers there just having fun. There was a road course, 1/2 mile oval and a kid sized oval. It was open to anyone that showed up.
