I just bought a 1995 Honda Gold Wing off of Cragslist for $600. As usual with these deals the owner said it had run when it was parked. According to the last owner it was stored inside until a few months ago when it was moved to the backyard.
I put in a new battery and ..... nothing. Not even a click to indicate that the motor was locked up and the starter was trying to crank it. Could the starter be dead from sitting several years? Is there a starter solenoid I can check?
What about wiring or a bad ground? Anybody know anything about these bikes?
Starter solenoid is likely the cause or corroded push button from rain water.
Solenoid looks like a half stack of quarters with two 8mm studs. Follow the bat cable. most likely on left side under side cover

About 800 ccs difference. It's a 75. 
Didn't the '75 have a kicker? Remove the plugs, lube the cylinders and kick it a few times.
It won't start, but it will make you feel better....

Maybe you should check the timing belt before you try to turn the motor over?
Wait, my 1979 had an electrical cut out switch on the side stand; put the stand down and everything goes off. Look for a hanging wire.

No nudity here. I bought this one because of the vintage fairing and saddlebags. I have already ordered some plastic parts from Vetter to restore this stuff. I want to do some long trips with my Wing. I'm only about 10 miles from my office in Downtown Dallas and I can and have made that commute with the Ruckus.
It would be nice to have a parts source, as soon as I figure out what parts I need to get it running.
The Vetter fairing and saddlebags were good stuff. 
I had a Windjammer on my GS750 when I was younger, and I rode that thing all over the country. One of my buddies also had the trunk and saddlebags, and they could carry a ton of stuff on a trip.
Back in the days before the motorcycle manufacturers started to build their own fairings, Vetter had a ridiculously large share of the market.

Thanks. Lots of good stuff here. I also found the link to Randakks which looks like a good parts source.
While I was in the front yard messing around with the bike this weekend another guy in an old Goldwing rode by. I guess there are more of these around than I though.

I bought an old GS300 a decade ago and did the same thing, with the same result. Nothing, I had the headlight apart and was checking the wiring when a buddy stopped by. I told him the same story and he pulled in the clutch and hit the starter...guess what happened.
Yeah, felt kinda silly after that.
But Dan is right, it should do something, it's gotta be a wire
It was a fuse.
Yes. It started right up with fuel from an external gas tank.
I need to rebuild the carbs and treat the gas tank for rust.
It also needs new tires all around.

The Peugeot belongs to a neighbor who is helping me work on the bike. He was a factory Peugeot mechanic back when they sold them in the US and he has more than one and a yard full of parts. That one is a fairly nice 505 Turbo.
I am looking at changing the oil. The smell of gas is coming out of the crankcase so I think the carbs are leaking through. Has anybody else had that problem? Changing the shaft oil. Carb rebuild and as was suggested here replacing the timing belts. Having the gas tank re-done because there is rust in there. I used an external tank to get it started. I have a friend who does custom paint. I might talk to him about the tank and side covers. I have always wanted something painted blue metalflake.
Then I need tires. Any suggestions?
