Why do we (U.S.A) not have this?
This sounds like a great bike on paper but at this time the bike is not coming to the states. So sad.

Because those are two different bikes pictured? One has a single sided swingarm, the other may, but it would be the other side...
And because we are a litigious society that doesn't get the nice things.
looks like the one with the single sided swingarm is a different model
I suck Wrong hot link :(
I think mistanfo cleared this one up. "And because we are a litigious society that doesn't get the nice things. "
I don't know if we can blame the US GOV for not getting this one. How many ridiculous super sport bikes do we have here nowadays?
You can blame the US motorcycle buying population.
If there was a market for the SuperDuke R, then I am sure that it would be on sale here.
But that bike is going to be up against the Streetfighter (with the important Ducati name on the tank). the Triumph Speed Triple R, the Aprilia Tuono, MV Agusta, BRUTALE RR 1090 all of which will have WAY more then 123 hp.
When is BMW going to make a naked version of the S1000RR?

That's exactly what it is.

And slots in just above the Street Triple R, Ducati Monster, and SFV650... all of which way undercut it on price.

and of those listed only the Speed Triple would be considered a success
In reply to Flight Service:
I would guess that has a lot to do with the price though.
Depends on what criteria you are defining success.
All of the bikes I mentioned are based on open class sport bikes except the triumph. That means the cost to develop is born solely on the Speed Triple and not spread out.
The street triple has the Daytona 675, but I don't think that there is a big Daytona anymore.
In reply to singleslammer:
price, service network and availability.

I love the new looks of the ktm rc8, but berkeley paying $16k for one new. I'd rather have the bmw or MV f4 for a bit more than that.
FWIW, Isn't the speed triple loosely related to the triumph ST tourer?

The engines are related, but I'm pretty sure that's about it.
The video makes me think I would be a better rider if I had one.

Ahh, I figured more would be shared.....but then again, the speed triple seems to have been a winner for them

Pretty sure the Speed started out based on the Daytona 955. Not sure how closely the Sprint was based on the same platform. I would imagine that the frame would be fairly significantly modified for the very different application.
