So there's what appears to be a rather unloved NX125 at my work and I want it. The logistics of how I plan to acquire it are under control; I just don't know anything about the bikes. From what I can gather via google, they are a rare beast that were a bit ahead of their time. Single cylinder, air-cooled 4-stroke with like 13 hp. What else do I need to know about them?
Engine looks vaguely like the one in the CG125, which is a very popular learner bike over here in the UK.
Usually with Honda engines of this capacity, if the oil is changed regularly and the cam chain doesn't rattle, they tend to go on for a long time.
The first bike I rode was a honda NX250. It had a water cooled single cylinder engine and was a dual sport type bike. I used it primarily as a dirt bike that I could ride down to the trails because the top speed wasn't that impressive.
If the NX125 is the same very few of them were imported to the states, I think the NX series had a three year run from 88-90. I brought mine to a honda dealer and they didn't know such a thing existed.

I bought a leftover 89 new in 1990. Great bike and went through some hellacious abuse.
I hit a car once and a culvert a different time and never bent the forks, although I got some time in the hospital both wrecks.
I still have it and it still runs good. Looks awful though. I'd like to find a parts bike so I can restore mine eventually.
BTW they are slow. Especially if you have a passenger.
Slow is what I expect. I can't imagine there's much umph from all twelve of those raging horses.
