Hey guys, it's been a few years since I've posted on the forums, but I pass through every once in a while! My buddy and I just acquired a 2008 Ninja 250r with 34k on the clock. It was lowsided by the previous owner and no longer has a title.

We are planning on turning it into a track day bike, with the hope of racing at some point. But, it's really just to get our feet wet, keep us entertained, and to learn.

The bike came with a lot of parts, and a few missing ones. As the bike sits it needs:
- ECU (missing)
- Seat (missing)
- Slip on exhaust (stock/damaged)
- Passenger foot peg exhaust hanger (missing)
- Maybe new levers/grips
- Plastic repairs
- Love
- Attention

Came with extra:
- 3 spare rear tires (used)
- 1 spare front (decent)
- Chain
- Sprockets
- Calipers
- Race Stand
- Racing Ignition Switch

...and more that I'm forgetting.

We picked up the bike on Thursday are doing our initial tear down assessment today, so I'll know more soon.

Things we are looking for:
- Advice (We both ride Triumph's, and don't know any of the ins and outs of Ninja's)
- Race Seat
- Exhaust Systems or Slip Ons
- Service Manual (which is best for track day wrenching)
- Cheap part, tire, and track gear sources...

I forgot GRM doesn't host so I can't upload photos as easily, but I'll post photos tomorrow.

If the engine is anything like the engine in the OG Ninja 250, you will never get any more power out of it. They tried for 20+years and no one has been able to do so without resorting to something exotic.

That sounds like it needs a nitrous-oxide bottle.

Just be careful you don't go over what a nice clean model would run.

Looking on Ebay right now and clean examples are $2200.

Plastics/electronics/maintenance items add up quite quick.

Turbocharging is probably considered exotic, but there's safe builds out there making around 60whp.

Bottom end seems to not like anything much more than 80-85whp(even then may be a ticking time bomb) The valve springs are the really weak point, stock they don't have enough tension to allow 7-8lbs of boost. I've seen a guy use clutch springs from a literbike to get around that. LOL
