So a few weeks ago I took a week long trip on the Ducati with my BIL to ride Skyline Drive, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had no real plans and we basically rode and then camped in campgrounds along the way. We got very lucky in that the campgrounds were all fantastic, and a swim in a lake/creek/puddle after a long hot day on the bike was FANTASTIC. I learned a lot about packing, travel, what to bring and what to not bring, and mostly how a Ducati is not a great long distance touring bike if you like your knees...
I tried to capture it all here:

The thread has all the pics, cause I can straight upload them from my phone or GPS, which removes the extra step of finding a picture host, etc. I initially wanted to keep up to date in real time but there was no way that was gonna happen. I found that I really enjoyed travelling by motorcycle, which is good because after hearing and seeing the trip, my wife really wants to go on the next one (back to looking at 2up bikes I go). I did learn that if she and I are going together, we will not be camping. That is just too much stuff to bring for 3-4 nights of travel. I guess I finally understand why those folks traveling 2up on Goldwings sometimes have a trailer in tow.
All in all a great trip and I am looking at doing a weekend trip this fall with my wife, and possibly a longer one next year with my wife, sis, and BIL.
That was a nice write-up - I like the way both of you shared the same story separately from each perspective. Nice pics too. Atleast one of you will be buying a Versys or V-Strom in the next 90 days :)
Now, how do you upload straight to adv from your phone? I always upload to my host then post them as a link.
Nicely done report and ride.
Fwiw, I've done the fall ride twice, and it wasn't very fun. The roadway was full of huge RV's and people looking at the fall colors. Slow slogging constantly, and everywhere was full of people.
@Huckleberry- when I go to respond to any thread on ADV, my phone and comp both have a box that says "upload pic or gps track". Click that and it links to my pics and I can post away.
Also my BIL already listed his bike for sale and is currently looking for a Vstrom. lol
@foxtrapper- no way would I want to do the BRP or Skyline during the fall. I doubt I will do Skyline again ever. I just don't think it was worth it. BRP, yep I'll hit that one again but it will be dependent on time of year.

Brilliant. I never noticed that before... they actually upload it to their own server and host it. That will be awesome for playing tag-o-rama and not filling my smugmug account with nonsense pics of my motorcycle in front of odd things holding action figures.
Yep. Hence why I included the link here and didn't upload all those pics to a host site just to post here.
