My SV650 needs tires.

F- 120/60 ZR 17 (55W)

R- 160/60 ZR 17 (69W)

I am thinking a factory replecement tire should be plenty for what i do. Factory tire was a Metzeler MEZ4. Right now i have a Continental Road Attack in the rear which i did like a lot.

Suggestions? Also im trying to keep price down, way down so if anyone has any promo codes, or can get tires at cost or something i would really really appreciate it a whole lot.

Thanks

I had Bridgestone Battleax on mine and they were good tires, not sure on cost though.

I have a Continental rear on my Wee. Wears like iron, and has been amazing in the rain. Bit so much in the clay, but that was my own stupidity. About the most expensive tires out there, but between the fact that they are going to last twice as long as the factory rubber, and they grip better, I see it as money well spent.

Google SW moto tires, I believe they are in new Mexico, and have fast service a fair price.

I don't believe in skimping on motorcycle tires. Those little contact patches are pretty important.

After three years in a shop with access to anything under the sun, I still haven't found anything I like better than Pilot Powers for a sporty streetbike. With the modest power and weight of your SV, you'll get good mileage out of them, especially for a 'full sport' tire. They're pretty darn good in the wet, and they stick like glue when they get a little warmth in them, but they don't need to be at high temps to have grip at all. I really like them.

My experience with Dunlops is mixed. They're utterly fantastic when they're fresh, but after wearing about 1/3 of their tread, they start to act erratically in a way that saps confidence. At 1/2, they're like ice on anything but perfectly dry pavement. Past that, they're all but worthless, despite looking like a perfectly serviceable tire.

I will not ride a motorcycle with retreads, unless it's to do a burnout in a parking lot. Beyond that, no berkeleying way.

I like Bridgestones and Contis, but I don't love 'em like the Pilot Powers.

For an all-around recipe, I used to recommend a sport tire in front and a sport-tour in back. Plenty of stick for street riding, and you get a little extra mileage out of the rear thanks to its slightly harder compound.

make sure to give us an update in a few thousand miles...

I got about 5.5K out of the rear tire on my sv1k, was running pilot power 2ct tires, and I loved them. Only time the back end would step out was first thing in the ride if it was cool/wet, and that's only when I rolled on to it to soon.

I'm still running the front but plan on replacing the rear this weekend. Went with pilot road 2ct, supposed to be a little higher mileage tire still with good grip for street riding.
