2006 KTM 640 Adventure. My local BMW dealer had it and they really wanted my F650 Dakar. Ended up basically trading straight across and I got a fully farkled bike with 1/3 the mileage.
Been slowly going through it, I pulled a bunch of stuff from the Dakar to install on this like my Highway Dirt Bikes hand guards, Gobi side bags, etc. I've also added a set of 2" Rox Risers and a GPS mount.
Next up is oil change, brake fluid change, front tire swap to a TKC80 I have kicking around and checking the valves. At some point I want to swap over to a high front fender as well.
Whoa, nice! Not what I was expecting!
Nice find, from everything I read that is better than the BMW. Nice score.
Cool bike. Very orange . Let us know how you get on with it.

I've got maybe 600 miles on it. When I first test rode it I was a little underwhelmed. It had more large frequency vibrations compared to my Dakar and even tho it weighed 50-60lbs less and makes 10% more power than the Dakar it didn't have that much pull. It started talking to me on the second, longer test ride when I took it up the mountain tho.
Once I got it home I noticed it had a 15T front sprocket instead of the stock 16T. I threw that on and it made a huge difference. Then I think the carb was a bit gummed up as the bike has gotten markedly better mpg each tank I go through and the power is getting better and better.
I tossed a used Leo Vince pipe on it and it really woke up the top end. I like how light it feels compared to the Dakar and the top end power is nice.
When I put the Rox risers on the choke cable wasn't working right, so I rerouted it. Had plenty of length, but it still wasn't engaging properly. Off came the tank/seat and found the cable had slipped out of a sheath about half way down. popped that back in and all's well.
Next weekend the brake/oil flush and hopefully checking the valves.
Sounds like someone rode the bike but didn't maintain it. Good score!
Made me think of these:
Badass, though.

I doubt the bike ever went off road. It certainly looks like it never got dropped. There's one scratch on it on the gas tank, that's it. It also sat alot as it's a 2006 and I bought it with 7500 miles, so he rode it less than 1000 miles a year.
He did spend a lot of money setting it up for off road riding tho. Stenhouse steering dampener mount with Scott dampener, handguards/lever guards, luggage rack with touratech bags, skid plate, bigger pegs, KTM racing air box cover, smaller front/rear sprockets, custom seat, Scotts oil filters, etc, etc.
It came with records, the stock front/rear sprockets, brand new spare brake pads, air filter skins, all the books. Didn't come with the KTM tool kit unfortunately.
The first tank I got 38mpg, 2nd tank 44mpg, 3rd tank 49 mpg. On my 4th tank now, hopefully get in the low 50's for mpg, that's where it should be.
At some point I want to replace the stock Mikuni BST40 carb with an FCR41, but I want to ride it stock this season and make sure everything is working properly...
Finally got my GPS mounted. Had to wait for parts to come in, then modify the parts, then find wrenching time. Think it came out pretty well tho...
