Hey all,

I took my 1976 BMW R-90 apart at the end of last season. I swapped out the goofy 2 into 1 exhaust and went for the stock pipes (liberated a bit), I cleaned up the shiny stuff, removed the schmetca from the spokes and tried to polish the aluminum wheel centers. Meh, we're not going to Pebble Beach.

I bought some 2008 Porsche paint, gun metal grey and an oxblood colour in a rattle can. I planned to seal and prime the parts, shoot the rattle can red where the pinstripes will be, then lay the grey down, remove the tape, hum & a buff, then clear.

Another 10 minute job.

I ended up shooting sealer, primer, grey and then the clear. The stripes are vinyl. I'm not as happy with vinyl as I would be with paint stripes, but I know my limitations. FWIW, a guy I know does nice work on picture frame matting with an indelible marker. I gave him a 450 Honda tank to practice on. Shoot grey, have him do some geodesic tribal looking stuff and then shoot the clear. It came out GREAT!

After seeing how the parts came out, he tapped out, didn't want to screw up all the work invested.

So here we are ....

I'll take nice pictures once it's all assembled.
