So, how's Bike Week at GRM HQ/Daytona? My friend is there. He moved his son to the bike school, then stopped off for Bike Week. I told him to buzz GRM HQ and Margies back yard, but wait until it gets late, 'cuz I explained how much she like to hear the thunder at night. He said it's really cold there. And he almost got killed by an 18 wheeler that ran him off the road. Other than that, I think he's having a good time. He said there's a lot more vendors than Sturgis, but less outlaws.
Honestly, it's the usual: a bunch of "individuals" who all happen to look like Glenn from the Village People.
"I want to be... A Macho Man...."
I keep waiting for them to break into song.
Maybe you have to bring your own indian, cowboy and construction worker. Gotta reach critical mass, you know.
Here's what they need to do, and this is so brilliant that I might have to get some fresh air after posting this:
During Bike Week, Daytona should also host a rodeo, a pow-wow and a construction workers summit. Look, instant Village People times a thousand. Village People had a police man, too, right? Well, we have plenty of police here. See, it's foolproof.

It has been cold this week. Come to think of it, it's been chilly (for Florida) all winter.
I don't mind bike week, and I usually like to go on a field trip to seek the downtown freakshow at least once during the week. If it weren't for the "loud pipes save lives" tools that constantly strafe our office and the folks who insist that sidewalks are really just motorcycle parking areas, I'd be a big supporter of the whole thing.
After all, how could you miss this kind of debauchery?
Pictures of naked girls ................ My Buddy charlie is sponsoring his son in Sundays amateur moto x at the super cross at daytona speedway . They going over tomorrow and watch the pros .
Speaking of the Village People, check out this video. Hilarious guy to watch in person!

Bike Week is the best of the "special events" that are held in Daytona..... at least as far as the community is concerned. The bikers don't cause any trouble, spend $$ like it is going out of style, and are generally out to have a good time.
I could live without the jackasses with the straight pipes, (compensate much?) and the amount of drunken riding that happens is truly disturbing, but overall it is a good time.
I'll probably head down to main st. tonight to view the freak show. It seems that although the crowds aren't as large as they once were, the vendors are out in force. Hopefully the weather warms up for these guys this weekend.
Oh, and to the Good Dr. Hess---- We used to have plenty of Outlaws here, until the feds raided their clubhouse a few years ago and scattered the remaining members. They have a very small presence in Daytona these days. Not a bad thing in my book.
My friend didn't mean Outlaws, he meant outlaws. For an interesting read, pick up a copy of Sonny Barger's book, Hell's Angel. He's walked the walk, that's for sure. Not my lifestyle of choice, but I guess he's had a good time.
It's been my observation over the decades, strictly from reading mags, talking to people, etc., that Daytona didn't want the bikers there. Thus I don't go there. I only spend my money where I'm wanted. Sturgis wants my money. I spend it there. And while Sturgis is not HD only, it is more HD specific. I don't have a jap bike, so I don't care about them.

Whenever I see bikers expressing their individuality by dressing alike, I think of these lines.
"You can tell from my outfit,
that I am a cowboy.
If you get an outfit,
you can be a cowboy too."
Is that a real song, or did i make it up?

One more reason to never eat coleslaw unless you personally know the person preparing it. Remind me to never tell you the coleslaw story I heard from my sanitation instructor in culinary school.

The real question is did anybody bring an actual Bike to Trailer Week? You know one that can be ridden more then 40 feet?
Some friends of mine went to Bike Week a few years back, and one day they noticed a semi truck with a flatbed going down the highway. On the flatbed were two tricked out pickups, and in the bed of each pickup was a tricked out Harley.
Apparently they belonged to some people who not only couldn't be bothered to actually ride their bikes, they couldn't be bothered to even drive their own trucks.
Some of my favorite T shirts from Sturgis:
I rode my bike to Trailer Week.
Nice trailer, BOB COSTAS. (on the back of the T shirt.)
and one I got for my wife: You just got passed by a girl on a Sportster.
My friend did actually trailer his, but because he moved his son to Florida for the MMI or whatever it's called bike school. He put his son's bike and stuff and his bike in the trailer and made a combo trip out of it. He rode with us to Sturgis last year, so I know he can do it.
"If you see this bike on a trailer, call the cops, 'cuz it's STOLEN!"
I'd guess(just from experience). that most of the jappers were driven.....99% of the hogs were trailered and driven the last 5 miles.
I don't think '06-'07 were very good years. '08-09 seemed to have improved, just from my reading teh 1ntr4w3bs, y0. I've got over 80K on my bike and Dr.Linda' has over 50K on hers. But then we pass many a twinky out on the road.
Cold that how it was...drove 1400miles in the new truck to ride 250 miles frezzing cold...mid 30's at night and don't think it made it higher then 58 except one day...
The new flat track at Daytona SUCKED but the racing was great. The portable bleachers were a bad joke ice cold knees pressed in to your back as you ducked to avoid flying lime stone.... $4 for a hot coco F you mr. France.
The old stadium off LGPA was much better and cheaper too.
Volusia Speedway park was great as allways
I was there after Daytona and before Bike Week, know what happens then?
Gospel Week! Serious. Maybe it was a one time event, but the world was covered with large black women in colorful outfits praising His name and breaking into song.
