That is a misconception. I see plenty of 'riders'; the only water that those bikes see is what falls from the sky.

It was actually clean again about five minutes after those pictures. It usually stays very clean. I just picked it up from its 1000mile service. That was the first time I've had it out in the damp, rode through some road construction and my gravel/dirt driveway. Just thought the splatter looked cool.

My buddy is one of those guys that keeps his Harley sparkly-clean. In fact, on our road trips - 5000 miles, last Summer - he'll go out and give his bike a quick bath, using the hotel room ice bucket for a water basin. My bike, on the other hand, is usually filthy.
