OK I have the clutch basket and rotor out of my bike and was curious what I'd be looking for as far as inspecting the stator/rotor. Both look fine to me, the magnets on the rotor have a bit of metal junk stuck to them but not much. The stator brushes? still all have grooves and I don't see any signs of misalignment or overheating. The bike apparently was charging fine when I pulled it apart but I just wanted to know what I might be looking for as far as wear goes.

Any tips or suggestions are appreciated!

The inspection process is done with the bike together. However, here's what you can do now: DVM set on Ohms, low scale. Black lead on a chassis ground. Touch other part of chassis with red lead. Should read very low, ~1 ohm or less. Touch one output pin from the plug with the red lead. Should read infinity. Touch other pin. Should read infinity. Put one lead on each pin. Should read low, like ~2-3 ohms.

Clean the metal bits out of the rotor. That's bits of your chain and transmission. There are no brushes.

Thanks for the tip Doc, I'll just assume it works fine for now knowing how to remove and repair it in the future. After a good clean I should be good to go, though not very far!
