That looks like a pretty fair price, even if it is locked up.

The seller is one of the most interesting salvage yards I've ever seen. They had a Suzuki RE5 there several years ago. It was rough but intact.

This is cooler, for sure.

My dad had one of those but it was black. Cool. As complete as it is, yeah that's a pretty fair price, engine parts are not hard to come by or expensive.

There's a place near Greenville, SC that has an RE5 stored inside.

Be careful over there, snipes. When you get back, go to Classic Cars of SC over near Gray Court, it's in the back of the big warehouse. Along with a couple of Russian Lada pedal cars. Yep, I said Russian Lada pedal cars.

Just have to figure out how to convince a friend of mine he needs the Honda, and that it's somehow worth $800.

What's with the rear sprocket(s)? is that a 2speed rear end?

That was a fairly common feature on small dirt bikes in the 1960s - they had dual sprockets, and there was a extra section of chain you could put in or take out to fit around one sprocket or the other. Use one sprocket for getting around town, use the other for offroad.

Harley-Davidson's version of the dual sprocket setup:

That's a Harley Baja 100 which has the dubious distinction of landing on Rick Sieman's list of the All Time 10 Worst Dirt Bikes. He's better known as Super Hunky. http://superhunky.com/index.php
