Since I purchased my SV650 a few years ago, I have used it primarily for short jaunts around town. I don't know if this has contributed to having a net charge depletion over time. It has taken longer and longer to start the bike, until tonight, where the battery was too weak to start the bike.
So what does GRM say, is the battery kaput, or should I just get a battery tender? I don't know the last time that the battery has been replaced, since I haven't changed it since getting the bike.
Probably an old battery, best to replace it. Weak batteries can lead to other problems, besides poor starting. Get a battery tender, too.
Replace the battery, but then ride the bike more and longer instead of getting a battery tender.

Yeah, Battery Tenders don't do a lot to bring back an old battery, but they do a good job keeping them charged up over long periods of storage, or recharging an otherwise healthy battery from an unintentional discharge. So I too will vote for new battery and a Tender - they're damn handy to have around.

New battery and a http://batteryminders.com/
it is different then a tender as it will keep the battery sulfate free.
They really work!
