I have a thing for old bikes/cars but I'm looking at treating myself to a newer enduro this year. The vast majority of my riding is on single track forest trails. I need to hop on and off dirt and gravel roads to transit between trails. I don't use my bike on anything but secondary roads so I don't need a high top end. I've always been a Honda guy but I'm not married to the brand. I'm 46, 6'1" and 230lbs. I'm looking for something with a modern suspension, better brakes and electric start.
Klx 250s. The 06/07 have better suspension. You should be able find a good one with all the important mods done for under $3k. If you have more budget, a wr250 is more bike but a lot more money.
ZW thanks for the advice. Is this what you ride? The last Kawasaki bike I had was a KE125, fond memories.
$3000 would be at the top end of my budget although I did drop by a local dealer and looked over some new 2013 models. I was tempted but it's still too cold out to sleep in the barn.
$3k would be top buck for a good one with all the mods. A lot of them have the 300 or 330 big bore kits, pipe, and carb mods done as a matter of course. I rode one for 4 years and put about 15k of mostly single track on it with only the mods and oil changes. I regret selling it and will probably buy another one. I just noticed where you are. Riding the ganny? If you're not doing much road, quite a few Huskys and Gasgas were blue plated when new, especially in the Ottawa area. I would only consider the two strokes though and wouldn't touch a used modern high performance four stroke for any price. ODSC forum often has decent stuff for sale.

Yup. We actually front onto the Ganny. Love getting home from work and going for a quick ride . Makes the days stesses just go away.
