The motor gods are smiling on me, I think. My fiance and I are looking at moving to a house with a garage(!) in a couple weeks.

I'm thinking, ditch the fairing, ditch the racks, rebuild the brakes, and ride the piss out of it. Learn me some XS750... good stories, bad stories, story stories.
My vague recollection suggests that these might have issues with the gearbox/transfer case for the shaft drive. If I'm remembering this correctly, then I'd give the bike a wide berth.
For $200.?
Sell the fairing, ditch the seat, make the rack into a BBQ and ride the piss out of it; sell it for $200 next year.
