Anyone know of a cheap way to depin wires from a Toyota ecu? I found a few tools on Amazon. They aren't expensive but I'd have to wait for them. I've seen ppl mention small screwdrivers, from experience those don't fit, work, and end up cracking the connector. Paper clips aren't strong enough. The last harbor freight depinner I bought snapped immediately at the plastic handle.
I have sacrificed a few small screwdrivers to make the shapes I need for different de-pinning tools. The cheap ones are usually the most easily formed to get the job done, along with a little grinder work.
Safety Pin.

Most industrial depinners tools are a small tube or half round that slip down around the pin and depress the tang(s).
Think metal ball point pen tube.
I've got a collection of Small Poking Tools, some of which probably came from HF and some of which definitely came from HD. They do the job.
If you're a cyclist, I'm assuming you have a sharpened bike spoke. If you don't, then pick one up at a local bike shop. Use a grinder to profile it according to your needs.
Try and fab something w/ the next size smaller screwdriver and a roll pin?
Buy a box of cheap and nasty jewlers/precision screwdrivers. Then modify as required.
brazing rod can work. I've made pin tools, seal picks and oring/seal levers with it.
