I saw this in the video I linked and it worked really slick.  Super easy.  At least with the right tools.

Use a large bearing splitter and you can just hand-tighten it to go between the bushing lip and the control arm.

then a metal cup of some sort on top.  It took a surprisingly small amount of force so I'd guess even something like a piece of exhaust pipe (with a cap of some sort) would work fine.

I bought a cheap ball joint removal/installation tool and used the attachments.

you just push the arm off of the bushing.

he gets into it at :50

you need a press but as simple and cheap as they are and as useful as they turn out to be, not much reason not to have one if you have the room.

That looks really slick.

Does it seem odd that he seemed to need to loosen the bearing tool to get it off the control arm? I'd have thought it'd just be sitting on top of the control arm when everything was removed from the press.

Yeah. On one of them he clamped it onto the arm itself by accident.  Another reason why you just need finger-tight.  The tool only has to be over the arm - it doesn't need to clamp on the bushing.   In fact, you don't want it to.

Cool, thanks. I was trying to figure out whether I was missing something, but "carefully misinterpreting a demo mistake" sounds more my speed...
