We've been wearing these minimalist cross-trainer shoes that are light weight, breathable, slip on and very grippy shoes. These shoes are some times referred to as beach shoes or earthing shoes. These shoes allow us to feel the peddles and any bumps or noises coming from under the van. Only draw back, is that these shoes can be slippery on wet floors.
Cheap comfortable shoes, we have 3 pairs of these in 3 different colors. Whats your goto driving shoe?

However, if it comes to any serious on-track stuff, I would recommend an SFI-rated shoe and FR socks.
I really like Xero Shoes. I've owned 5-6 pairs of them at this point. I like the Prio or Prio Neo the best. The soles are only a few mm thick so you can really feel the pedals through them. I hate driving in anything else now.
Xero men's shoes.
Ha, I never knew this was a thing.
Merrell Chameleon 8 Stretch. Narrow. Rounded heal. Fairly thin sole with enough support to walk in all day.
If I need a dressier-looking shoe, Merrell Jungle Moc.
The various generations of DC Pro Spec, until they all went away. Now I settle for DC Pensfords which have a similar pedal feel without the fancy rolled heel or other little driving touches from the Pro Spec.
Puma Speedcats and Onitsuka Tiger Ultimate 81s are my go to.
I wish my wide feet fit into Speedcats. For karting I use a pair of Goodyear Footwear driving shoes; they were cheap but not very comfortable at the ankles.
It looks like they offer low-rise sneakers now that might be a better fit:
