Looks exactly like my grandpas old boat, right down to the interior pattern. Although now that I trace back the years, his would have been an 88 or 89.

That's probably one of a small handful of classic cars that will tolerate a... um...full size guy leaning on an open door like that.

It's Monday morning, and we're finally on the road again!

Here are yesterday's adventures:

We started off by leaving Carl's lake house.

We visited a lighthouse (yours are much shorter than ours).

Then we piled back into the car and headed towards the Traverse City Cherry festival.

Stop number one was the car show:

Then, we drove through a cherry orchard.

Finally, we arrived at Carl's house in Holland, MI. We tried out his Fiat 500:

After that, we piled into Carl's wagon: Parked next to a "normal" wagon.

There was a tailgunner's seat! And saw more of his cars.

And a Miata-powered... something. The first person to tell me what this is gets a free GRM beanie!

Tim and Tom wanted to know if a Fiat 500 is like a Mini...their rides confirmed it's like a slightly smaller, significantly less powerful Mini. Very fun around town in a moped sort of way.

I think the Suddards have seen why people live in Michigan (a question I've been asked many times). Spring, summer, and fall make the snow worthwhile. And the bugs aren't as bad as Florida.

My son spent the past 4 years in Holland, including summers. He had a chance to go to Univ of Michigan for grad school and decided that Univ of California; Irvine sounds a lot warmer.

Of course his goal is to teach at a small college LIKE Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Go figure.

Just because I'm on my phone and couldn't search for an old pic of when Carl was posting about doing the swap, doesn't mean I didn't remember it...it made me think hard about doing the same thing to my MGA.

Black Tulip. I used to have a companion GT in Aconite. The engine/gearbox from the Black Tulip car was in the Aconite car for about 10 years while I drove it in the winter. Eventually, it was too much winter and I parted it out. So Michigan isn't perfect for cars.
