I know there's ways to do it using P-bucket or Flickr, but I was hoping Tom found an easier method. Since I use my phone as my main camera most of the time, it would be easier to do a build-thread.

I'm curious how you're posting pics from the road into this thread.Easy, Photobucket and a smartphone with a data plan. Not necessarily super-smooth, but what else is there to do?
Yep, we actually have a wifi network called "66Mercedes." I have an iPad mini with a data plan that's keeping the whole car connected. I can even post pictures from my DSLR while we're driving, and Tim can download proofs and check emails on his laptop.
This approach might be cheating, but we've all got stuff to do.

The photobucket app is surprisingly tolerable on an iPad, FWIW.
Since there's no way to attach pics directly in this forum software, the two-step approach is pretty much the only way to go. Host pic, link pic.
I wonder what the Mercedes engineers would have thought about the computing and networking power in this car right now. It's a bit mind-boggling, especially the tablet. I can actually see the camera being easier to understand, it's conceptually close enough to television.

I know... I'm still learning the ropes of my fancy Flickr account.
Those old Bosch alternators wouldn't hardly climb over 13 volts on a good day when they were new. I'd say you might wanaa see if you can get one of those Delco or Mitsubishi upgrade dealies, or keep that shopping cart with you.

Or find a OLD starter/alternator shop that can rewind it hotter.
Family road trip, ahhh memories. Hope you don't put a rod through the block a few miles from your ultimate destination like we did!

Dude,
You have so jinxed their trip! Guess who's next in the patio?
To the GRM roadtrip crew:
Hope the family trip is a blast and get the toes wet & cold in the pond when you get to TC.

That's an easy one. Stop hitting bumps. Oh, and you haven't seen bumps until you get to Michigan. My route home from work in Michigan used to take into account traffic, and where in which lane you needed to be to avoid taking out the oil pan. Fun. Not.

Nice! We have work to do this summer while on our roadtrip, I better start planning.
Solution re the alternator:
Buy two batteries, a battery charger, and a Harbor Freight generator. Strap generator to roof, plug in charger, and charge one battery whilst running off the other.
Good luck! Stay safe and have fun!

Be specific. ALL of SC is backwoods.

Largest city has approx. 110,000 population.
If you guys are going to be around the 22nd -26th you can come check out SDAC. You've ran blurbs on it before. There might be some challenge cars there. www.sdac.org

Indeed. But I miss it so.
We're alive— and almost to the family reunion. Thanks to the experts at Silver Star Restorations and Heritage Woodwork, we have our Mercedes running better than ever. Both operations were impressive, almost as impressive as what had been plaguing us in the Mercedes—our brand new Alpine amplifier was shorting out internally. We disconnected it, smacked it a few times, and reconnected it. Suddenly, our Mercedes' electrical system was good as new, and without the burden of a dead short our car is cruising along with cold AC and rocking tunes.
We also fixed a few exhaust hangers, and adjusted the clutch slave cylinder. Last but not least, we checked our fluids and picked up a spare alternator and voltage regulator
This just keeps getting better and better. Glad to hear the problems have been mended. We were just up in Sevierville over the weekend. Nice place to visit. Seriously this sounds like an epic road trip for the record books.
This car was rallyd did it not have skid marks plates under neath the back side tranny and front lower
