Sending this from the car on my way out to Akron, OH to pickup a 1976 Fiat Spider; my friend is driving. In a decision to thriftiness over intelligence, I am going to attempt to drive it home tomorrow. We left Springfield, MA this morning, and plan to work on the car and camp tonight, then go to the BMV for some temp plates first thing tomorrow and hit the road after that.
Here's a YouTube video of the car: https://youtu.be/qJJ-OCRqLys
You may recognize this because it got posted on GRM, which was a catalyst for me purchasing it.
Had to stop to get free donuts at Krispy Kreme (by showing vaccination cards), that was the highlight of PA. Now in OH, stopped for diesel at a trucking mall with some nice '70s architecture. Stopping again for oven cleaner to hopefully clean up the vanes on the ALH TDI we're using. It's also developed a nice whistling exhaust leak under load. So, running late to actually see the car, hopefully will be able to get enough work in tonight to be in good shape for the return trip tomorrow.
oh is this the car that was in the classifieds?!? Update!?!

Yeah, the same. The short of it is that I and my friend are both alive and well. There was... some drama. We got really busy once we actually made it to Akron, hence the stop in updates. The TDI we were in had just received a new head and injectors, and sprung an exhaust leak that freaked us out a bit (It was just the EGR bolts not being tight enough, a quick snug and it no longer sounded like a spaceship), so we didn't even get to the car until 8pm.
Don't leave us hanging too long!
