They don't recommend them for the front axle, but I don't see why it would be an issue.
Generally any time I've gotten stuck it's been with a lack of traction at the rear. The few times I've had trouble with steers the streets were sheets of ice and unsafe to drive on altogether.

I was thinking in terms of turning / braking traction, but the steers do have more weight relative to their surface area, so they probably don't need as much help in the snow.

I just want to say that you're insane. The right kind of insane, but insane nonetheless!
Toyman, call me. You have my number. I can make lodging recommendations.

This sounds awesome.
As for traffic in Chicago, at 2AM the expressways will be empty. For the way back through, either you or your son needs to download the Waze app. It updates in real time, slightly better than google maps. 294 should be clear most of the day on Saturday and will certainly be a faster route than going 80/39, but 80/39 are sure to be moving. But even driving a bus I'd still go for 294 (I'd avoid 90/94 on the return trip).
I'm dreaming ambitiously this evening. This is very cool.

Mi casa es su casa if you need a crash pad near the Il/Wi border. I'm just a couple of miles from 294. I sent my number by pm
Guys, it looks like the pm system is down because I haven't gotten anything in the last couple of days. Anything sent by PM since 1/20 hasn't show up.
Shoot me a direct email. toyman zero one five four at g oogle mail dot com.
This. I even like the colors.
The interior isn't bad either.

I like the way the back is on that.

I do too, but I'm pretty sure that's beyond my woodworking skills. Bending those drawer fronts would be a challenge to say the least.

Looks like they used a much nicer patio door for the passenger side too.

Im guessing that wouldnt be too hard with some mdf and a vernier.

I think you meant veneer.
I spent a few years as 1 of the 7 nationwide Architectural Woodworking Institute inspectors. There are very few woodworkers who can do that well.
I can do it, but it is not easy.
It's looking like the weather is going to cooperate with me next weekend. The 10 day forecast is showing a warming trend next week and most of the trip will be in the high 40s and 50s. Even the I40 stretch through the Smoky Mountains will be in the mid 50s. This might just happen on schedule.

Bending? Those drawers look pretty flat to me. And like solid wood rather than a veneer.
Regardless, that bus looks really nice and not too hard to duplicate.
edit: oh... now I see you're referring to the drawers in the 6:05 post. Yeah. That wouldn't be easy.
I love how this thread is 7 pages, and toy man doesn't leave for a week.
If we move this over to the build thread section when he picks it up, it'll rival the grosh in page count.

I think this is going to be the kick off of the soon to be added "Adventures" sub-forum.
