The beater rally started about a year ago. We were doing the circle track and demo derbies at the local fair's. But they got way to competitive for us, and it just wasn't much fun any more. So we decided to start having our own races with beater cars. My parents happen to own 54 acres, so we utilized one of the fields on the property. We also do a bit of side work with building roll cages, bumpers and such so our shop is called Steep Creek Fab, hence the namesake. Most of the cars are $500 or less with the exception of the Benz ($800). We do a 2 and out format Heat races -> Consolation heat -> Feature
In 2017 we had 3 races. 4th of July, Halloween, and New Years eve. Each time we get a couple more cars competing. This last time around we had 9 cars total. The ground was frozen with temperatures barely reaching 20F. This made for some extremely slick corners. But the cars actually moved better than anyone expected with it being so slick. With out further ado, here are a few pictures that I snapped of the races.
