Legacy is an apt name. This is the longest-running model name currently in Subaru's bag of tricks, always adorning their mid-size vehicles. Once offered as both a sedan and a wagon, the latter is now sold strictly under the Outback name. Legacys only come with four doors.
Our tester was a top-spec 3.6R Limited model, equipped with all the goodies. Bluetooth connectivity, power driver and passenger seats and leather upholstery. The flat six-cylinder engine mates to a five-speed automatic and, as in nearly all Subarus of the last two decades, drives all four wheels.
Despite being in the priciest Legacy, that engine actually makes about 10 fewer each in the horsepower and torque categories than the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder. As equipped, its $32,015 sticker price is peeking in the door of the entry-level luxury segment populated by the Lexus ES350 and Infiniti G25.
