It's really all about the Tasty Freeze parking lot.
While Dodge's muscle car revival has not gone without its fair share of criticism, the Challenger Redline gives us a reason to be optimistic. Sure, it's big and heavy, but it also cranks out 375 horsepower through a Hemi V8. Though maybe outshone by the newer, crazier Hellcat, the Redline holds down the muscle car title pretty well.
For those of us older than the internet, this Challenger R/T Redline ticks off a lot of boxes.
Us older guys remember how pitiful cars were in the late 70's early 80's. Back then, the kings of the road were machines that had been produced a decade earlier, before emissions regulations and high insurance rates put an abrupt end to the party.
We'd sit in High School study hall and draw sketches of cars with powerful V8 engines, RWD and manual transmissions---- cars we wished the Big 3 still made. This new Challenger would have been the answer to our adolescent dreams, and for some of us....it still is.
Unlike the other "retro" pony-cars on the market today, outward visibility is actually quite good in this big Dodge. The controls are laid out nicely, the seats supportive and comfortable, and the novel "pistol-grip" shifter feels great--- although the lever's action could provide a better feel. Overall the interior is a bit stark, but thankfully lacks the tackiness of the Camaro, or the cheap touches of the Mustang. (although the 2015 Mustang's interior is greatly improved)
No, this Challenger R/T Redline won't be a star at the local autocross or track-day event. It's too big, too heavy, and a bit ponderous when pushed hard.
This car delivers on it's promise however--- as a great looking, awesome sounding, comfortable cruising machine that can haul ass and do impressive burnouts in the Tasty Freeze parking lot. It's a dream come true for your inner 16 year old.

This is my wife's dream car at the moment. We will more than likely end up with one in the drive way next to my Charger at some point.
You could do a lot worse rebelgtp. They really are nice driving cars. These also get more positive reactions from passers-by than the other pony cars. If she wants one---- I sure wouldn't talk her out of it!
This tank should be available with AWD instead of the electronic nannies, I mean it's on the platform for it, maybe then the Hellcat would keep up with GT-R.

As for AWD in the Hellcat, I keep waiting for them to announce a Hellcat Grand Cherokee with AWD.

They didn't engineer it to compete with the GT-R, and many buyers likely wouldn't cross shop them. Plus, all new performance cars have electronic nannies on them now.
This is another awesome story about the redline.
The Challenger is by far the best looking modern day musclecar. I want one and I hate everything Chrysler!
