The Toyota mid-sized sedan brought what everyone expected to the table. In the end, that's what we like about these cars: you know what you are going to get. That's what has made these cars the hot-seller that they are over the years. It's not over the top in any way.
Although, over the last couple years they have started campaigning these cars as sports sedans. Let's be honest, if I'm looking for a sports car, Camry is probably not the first name that comes to mind. Even through all that marketing hum drum, the car is not that different. They may have upped the power output a little, but it's still the small family-transporter we have come to know and love.
Despite the Sport moniker, no, this isn't a sporty car by our standards at all. What is it? Think of it as a way to feel a little better about yourself for having to drive a Camry. The Camry is a fine automobile that makes sense for most of the motoring public, but this isn't something that's going to still the soul.
Personally, if I'm shopping for a family car, I'm looking at the Mazda6 and maybe Kia Optima. Those, even with an auto box, have a spark.
