I drive a similar Accord LX with a 5-speed and 179hp. I would get the Altima as I am a Nissan fan - but not the CVT. At least I can race through the gears and imagine I am Mario Andretti.
Nissan's big seller, the Altima, received a bit of a facelift for the 2016 model year. The main differences are in the front and rear: Larger headlights, grille and taillights. Underneath the skin, the changes are minimal, though. This is still Nissans answer to the Camry, and Accord. It's more of a utility than anything else.
I will say the Altima serves its purpose very well. It's a utility, but not much other than that. It makes enough power to scoot around handily, has enough room for your two-and-a-half kids and the trunk is a generous size. Is it any fun to drive? No, not really. But that's not its purpose.
What it lacks in bells and whistles, it gains in simplicity. The console is not the command central found in so many new cars. It's very similar to what you would find in a sedan 10 years ago. Whether or not you think that's a good thing is up to you, but I personally like it.
