2021 Cadillac XT6 Sport AWD new car reviews

"Created to make the most of passengers’ time on the road, the Cadillac XT6 crossover centers on a luxurious, adaptable and connected cabin that is complemented with responsive handling and a comprehensive suite of standard and available driver awareness technologies."

That's how Cadillac describes its seven-row crossover replacement for the SRX. That may be just some fancy jargon, but let's take a look at the numbers to see how true that claim is. Two power options are available—a 237-horsepower turbocharged inline-four and a 310-horsepower V6—along with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive.

If the proportions look familiar, they should. Strip off the body panels and you'll find the very same architecture used in the new Chevy Blazer as well as the GMC Acadia.

We sampled the all-wheel-drive Sport trim. Is it truly as luxurious and adaptable as Cadillac would lead us to believe? Read our impressions below.

On paper, I know, this one makes little sense to our core group: It’s an upmarket, sorta-midsize luxury SUV that retails for north of $70,000.

But hear me out. No really.

If you’re shopping in that segment and you’re checking out the usual from Europe, add Cadillac to your list. The company’s on a roll.

First, crisp, distinctive styling. That Caddy styling DNA works well across the entire range.

The interiors feature just enough buttons, meaning you’re not tied to just the digital display. Plus you get a fairly conventional shifter.

And, let’s be honest, it’s different.
