Looks like the Kia Telluride is getting some updates for 2023–new bumpers, new grille, new wheels, new colors, new dashboard–but we sampled the 2022 model.

It’s right there in Kia’s media materials: Designed for America. And, yep, the Telluride offers a modern take on the traditional SUV.
Inside you’ll find traditional controls wearing a purposeful matte finish. The shifter is traditional. Top-notch, traditional HVAC and audio controls.
Love Kia’s audio display with the vintage tubes. It’s different, clever and memorable.
Likewise, the translucent gauges with the included rear-view camera views are effective. Maybe others will adopt this technology.
More details: The felt-like finish on seat belt receivers just feels thought-out. The wood trim on the door panels has a warm feel, while the nearby switches feel solid and intuitive.
The seats feel well bolstered, although are the bottom cushions too short?
The steering feels properly weighted. Just good action.
And then there’s the Sport mode. It totally transforms the eight-speed automatic: crisp shifts with sporty, proper shift logic. It doesn’t just keep the tach needle pegged but delivers performance that is, well, sporty.
For something rather big, the Telluride doesn’t feel so big. The ride is smooth, and the shocks feel properly damped. The A-pillars aren’t too thick.
Yeah, it’s a modern take on the idea of the traditional SUV.
