There are many types of car enthusiasts, and nearly as many ways to classify them. Some have a collect-them-all philosophy, following their passion from pony car to roadster to hot hatch. Others find a marque or model they adore and rarely stray.

Joe King fits in that second category. Starting with his very first car, he’s dedicated his motor-ing life to one specific model: the Ford Festiva. Sixteen years on, Joe still owns that first car and has added 10 more to the fleet–including this 1991 Ford Festiva time attack car.

I spotted an article in a magazine on swap-ping a turbo engine into a Festiva to make a nice little sleeper,” he recalls. “I didn’t have enough money for any of the hot cars back then and loved the idea of taking a cheap car and build-ing it to beat up on better, more expensive cars. I’ve never really lost that mindset and still love beating better cars on track.”…

The August issue will officially be on sale on July 7th, so it should get to subscribers around then. There is a couple weeks of flex time depending on when people subscribe and how long it takes for the issue to ship to the subscriber's address.
