After nearly four years of hard work, Bergsteiger—BimmerWorld’s all-out Pikes Peak racer—is nearly ready to compete in the 99th running of the famed hillclimb on June 27.

[Meet the Bergsteiger, BimmerWorld’s 1000-Plus Horsepower E36-Chassis BMW M3 Pikes Peak Racer.]

Before being loaded into the trailer for Colorado, Bergsteiger hit the dyno one last time after receiving a freshly built BMW P63 powerplant from Roush Engines. Normally found in the outgoing M8 GTE and good for around 590 horsepower, Bergsteiger’s P63 is currently rated for over 1000 horsepower.

Now with the hillclimb less than 20 days away, BimmerWorld plans to post daily Bergsteiger updates on its Facebook and Instagram pages as well as its YouTube channel.

That thing is really cool, but wow is it unattractive.

[edit] ...in a Terminator without a face kind of way. Which, on second thought, may be appropriate.
