Was the C7 Corvette awesome? In a word: Yes. Will the C8 Corvette be more awesome? That's the question, and hopefully we'll find out tonight when Chevrolet officially unveils the new car at 7:50 p.m. Pacific.
The biggest C8 news we've heard so far is that it will be mid-engined. If you think this move comes without controversy, then we'd like to rent space under the rock you came from. Why the debate? We suppose it's a bit like taking apple pie and pairing it with ice cream. Is it objectively better? Sure, but the apple pie purists will hate it. The C8 Corvette is no different: the purists want a front-engined sports car with a V8 powering the rear wheels. And while Ford got away with V6-swapping the Ford GT, we're not sure Corvette enthusiasts will be so forgiving.
We recently discussed the C8's steering wheel with our forum and, if the number of responses is anything to go by, the C8 is definitely going to make some waves.
