What a cool idea! Wrong side of the country for me but still a cool idea.
Looking for a less-useless way to bide your time at the track? Then volunteer for the inaugural LeMons Aid charity car-fix on Saturday, December 6th during the Sonoma Season-Ender.
LeMons Aid is a nonprofit that helps families in need keep their cars going so they can make it to work, get the kids to school, and stay active in their community. All it takes from you is a little volunteer wrench time: You might do an oil change, or swap in fresh pads, or change a bad hose. In other words, just what you’d be doing in the paddock on Saturday anyway—except these drivers might actually thank you.
You can always bug out if your team suddenly needs you, and LeMons Aid pays for the parts. For more info, check out the LeMons Aid page.
Both Peak and EBC Brakes have already volunteered to contribute. PEAK has offered their oils, antifreeze, brake fluid, and wiper blades, while EBC provides their brake pads and rotors.
To volunteer, just email Lauren Burke and tell her you want to help out.

Totally agree- if they did this anywhere near us I'd be there in a heartbeat!
Yeah, I thought this was brilliant! I've thought about how to put something like this together at the local circle track.. I wonder if after they do a few events they'd be interested in helping out other places with their contacts & structure.
Cool idea, would like to see something similar in my community. What is the liability agreement for having potential non-certified technicians work on a car?

Probably aren't talking about warrantied vehicles here. And I bet there are more capable mechanics and engineers per-capita in a LeMons paddock than just about anywhere else in the world.
In reply to KyAllroad:
That is exactly what I was thinking word for word. Bring this idea to North Carolina.
