On the plus side, I did a bunch of reading this weekend. When I get a few, I’ll update my latest in the “Whatcha reading thread?”

It should have been a great day for racing.
This past Saturday, I had not one but two autocrosses on my schedule. Our local Martin Sports Car Club would run in the morning and then, after a snack break, return to the same lot for an evening affair.
It’s like an endurance race for autocrossers–and one of my favorite events on the calendar. By the end of the day, there’s a camaraderie among those who, for some reason, just spent an entire day in a parking lot.
Plus you get to wear a safety vest. I bring my own because that’s how I roll.
A good friend was bringing his twin boys to the morning event. Both would be making their autocross debut. Throughout the week, I was getting updates as their excitement grew.
I was signed up, and our GTI was ready–fresh oil change, in fact.
Friday morning, I had a routine doctor appointment.
Nurse: How are you feeling?
Me: Been stuffy and achy this week as allergies have been kicking my butt.
Nurse after sticking a thermometer in my ear: You’re running a fever.
After having various things stuck up my nose and down my throat, we quickly had the answer: strep.
No autocross, stay home, and get better.
I spent the afternoon taking photos of the dog.
Chris ran our GTI solo, and the weather was far from pleasant. In fact, the rain canceled the night event.

Still, I hated to miss out.
(For more on how Chris did, read "Our Mk7 GTI again proves to be an ideal dual-duty car.")

It was a bummer not having you there to co-drive the car but I am looking forward to the next event in March!
March? Yes, Martin Sports Car Club at Lake County Tech in Tavares, Florida, on March 10. They pretty much use SCCA class rules.
Details here.
It's no fun to miss an event. I watched the parking lot build for the $2000 Challenge from my hotel room. That was absolutely tortuous. Feel better!
In reply to DavyZ :
Thanks and getting better. I think the take-home message here is take care of yourself and keep things from spreading.
Feel better...
I've already missed two events I had planned to attend in '24, and a third is coming up. Completely different reason in my case. File mine under "life gets in the way" and projects take longer to complete than planned...
